In this time people usually do the friends meetings, family meetings and small outings.

During this meetings, you can offer snacks to themYou can make different types of snacks like chakali, chivda, sev, khasta, etc.

  1. Chakli –

This is also known as murukku in the South India.

Ingredients –

  1. Gram Flour or Besan – ½ cup
  2. Rice Flour –1 cup
  3. Oil –1 cup
  4. Hot Water –1 cup
  5. Ajwain seeds – 1 teaspoon
  6. Turmeric Powder –1 teaspoon
  7. Red Chili Powder –1 teaspoon
  8. Salt –1 teaspoon
  9. Sesame Seeds –1 teaspoon

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add rice flour, besan, ajwain seeds, sesame seeds, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and mix well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add to the flour mixture and mix wellAdd hot water and knead a dough.
  3. Take chakali sacha or mould and add the small ball of dough and press it gently and make a round shape chakli.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the chakli till golden brown.
  5. Serve the chakli as you like or store it in an airtight container.

  1. Shankarpali –

This is very similar to shakkar pare made in the North India.

Ingredients –

  1. Maida – ½ cup
  2. Sugar –1/2 cup
  3. Rava – ½ cup
  4. Milk – 3 to 4 cups
  5. Ghee – 2 to 3 tablespoons
  6. Salt -1 pinch (optional)
  7. Oil – 1 cup

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add maida, rava, sugar, salt and mix well.
  2. Add warm ghee and mix well.
  3. Add milk slowly and knead a doughAllow it for 15 minutesMake small balls from dough and roll with rolling pin in a roti shape.
  4. Cut it in a diamond size and heat a oil in a pan and fry the shankarpali till golden brown.
  5. Serve the shankarpali as you like.

Nankhatai is quite popular among kids as well as eldersYou can also have it as tea time snacks.

Ingredients –

  1. Maida – 1 cup
  2. Gram Flour – ½ cup
  3. Baking Soda – ¼ teaspoon
  4. Baking Powder – 1 teaspoon
  5. Sooji or Fine Rava – ½ cup
  6. Cardamom Powder – 1 teaspoon
  7. Ghee – ½ cup
  8. Powdered Sugar – ½ cup
  9. Dahi – ½ cup
  10. Milk – ½ cup
  11. Almonds – 5 to 6 (chopped)

Process :

  1. Take a bowl to add powdered sugar and gheeWhisked it wellAdd curd and mix well.
  2. Take another bowl to add gram flour, maida, baking powder and baking sodaMix wellAdd rava alsoAdd cardamom powder and mix very well.
  3. Mix both mixtures well and knead a doughMake small balls, slightly flattened it and place chopped almonds over it.
  4. Bake the nankhatais for 20 to 25 minutes.
  5. Serve the nankhatais as you like.

  1. Karanji –

This is a quite popular recipe for Diwali and Ganesh Chaturthi FestivalThere are different stuffings like peanuts sugar stuffing, mawa stuffing, dry fruits stuffings, sesame sugar stuffings, coconut jaggery stuffings, etc.

Ingredients –

  1. Grated Coconut – 1 cup
  2. Raisins – ½ cup
  3. Cardamom Powder – 1 teaspoon
  4. Cashews – 10 to 15 (chopped)
  5. Powdered Sugar – 1 cup
  6. Maida –2 cups
  7. Ghee – 2 teaspoon
  8. Oil – 1 cup
  9. Milk – 1 cup
  10. Baking Soda – 1 pinch

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add 1 cup of maida, baking sodaMix well.
  2. Add hot ghee and mix wellAdd milk and knead a dough.
  3. Heat a ghee fry the coconut for 2 minutesAgain heat a ghee fry the maida for 10 minutesAllow it cool them.
  4. Take a bowl to add fried coconut, maida, powdered sugar, raisins, cashews, cardamom powder and mix well.
  5. Make a small ball from the dough and make a circle size puri and place the stuffing in the center of puri and grease the edges with water.
  6. Fold the puri and pinch the edges and make sure the karanji pack completely.
  7. Heat oil in a pan and fry the karanjis till golden brown.

  1. Namak Pare –

This is similar to Shankarpali.

Ingredients –

  1. Wheat Flour – 1 cup
  2. Maida – 1 cup
  3. Ajwain Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  4. Cumin Seeds- 1 teaspoon (optional)
  5. Oil – 1 cup
  6. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  7. Water – 1 cup
  8. Baking Soda – 1/2 teaspoon
  9. Hot Ghee – 1 tablespoon

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add wheat flour, maida, ajwain seeds, baking soda, salt and mix wellAdd hot ghee, mix very well.
  2. Add water slowly and knead a dough and allow it for 15 minutesMake small balls from the dough.
  3. Make a round shape roti and cut it into diamond or square shape as you like.
  4. Heat a oil in a pan and fry the namak pare till golden brown.
  5. Serve the namak pare as you like.

  1. Mathri –

They are also known as nimkis.

Ingredients –

  1. Wheat flour – 1 cup
  2. Carom seeds or ajwain seeds – 1 teaspoon
  3. Cumin Seeds –1 teaspoon (optional)
  4. Baking Soda –1 teaspoon
  5. Ghee – ½ cup
  6. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  7. Oil –1 cup
  8. Water – 2 cups
  9. Maida – 1 cup

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add wheat flour, maida, salt and baking soda.
  2. Add ajwain seeds and mix well.
  3. Add water and ghee and knead a smooth dough.
  4. Make a small ball from the dough and roll with a rolling pin like a roti size.
  5. Take a biscuits cutter or bowl and make discs and prick with a fork on it.
  6. Heat oil in a pan and deep fried the mathris.
  7. Enjoy the matharis as evening tea time snacks.

This is triangular shape papdi recipeFrom this, you can also make chaat.

Ingredients –

  1. Maida – 1 cup
  2. Sesame Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  3. Ajwain Seeds – 1 teaspoon
  4. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  5. Hot Oil – 2 tablespoon
  6. Baking Soda – 2 pinch
  7. Oil – 1 cup
  8. Water – 1 cup

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add maida flour, sesame seeds, ajwain seeds, salt, baking sodaMix well.
  2. Add hot oil and mix wellAdd water slowly and knead a dough and allow it for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Make a small ball from the dough and roll it in a triangular shape.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the khastas till golden brown.
  5. Serve the khastas as you like.

  1. Gujiya – Gujiya is similar to Maharashtrian Karanji.

Ingredients –

  1. Wheat Flour – 1 cup
  2. Maida – 1 cup
  3. Ghee – 2 tablespoons
  4. Water – 1 cup
  5. Salt – ¼ teaspoon
  6. Khoya – 1 cup
  7. Raisins, Cashews, Almonds, Pistachios – ½ cup (chopped)
  8. Powdered Sugar – ¼ cup
  9. Cardamom Powder – 1 teaspoon

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add wheat flour, maida, salt and mix wellAdd hot ghee and mix wellAdd water slowly and knead a doughAllow it for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat a ghee in a pan add khoya, chopped dry fruits, powdered sugar, cardamom powder and mix well for 10 minutes.
  3. Make a small ball from the dough and make a small roti shapePlace the khoya stuffing in the middle of roti and grease the edges with water and fold it.
  4. Heat ghee or oil in a pan and fry the gujiya till golden brown.
  5. Serve the gujiya as you like.

  1. Poha Chivda –

This is made from thin flattened rice and murmura.

Ingredients –

  1. Thin Poha – 1 cup
  2. Murmura – 2 cups
  3. Curry Leaves – ½ cup
  4. Red Chili Powder – 1 teaspoon
  5. Turmeric Powder – 1 teaspoon
  6. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  7. Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  8. Oil – 1 cup
  9. Peanuts – 1 cup
  10. Chopped Onions – 1 cup
  11. Dried Coriander – ½ cup (optional)
  12. Dalai – ½ cup (optional)

Process –

  1. Heat a pan fry the thin poha and murmura separately.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add chopped onions, peanuts, dried coriander, curry leaves for 10 minutes on low flame.
  3. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt in the same pan.
  4. Take a big bowl mix murmura, poha and dalai & pour the oil mixture into it.
  5. Mix well add sugar and serve as you like.

Shakkar Para is one of the most popular sweets from North India.

Ingredients –

  1. Wheat Flour – 2 cups
  2. Maida – 1 cup
  3. Sugar –2 cups
  4. Ghee – 1 tablespoon
  5. Water – 1 cup
  6. Oil – 1 cup
  7. Cardamom Powder – 1 teaspoon

Process –

  1. Take a mixing bowl to add wheat flour, maida, hot ghee and mix well.
  2. Add water slowly and knead a doughMake balls from the dough.
  3. Roll a paratha size round shape from the dough and make the diamond or square shapes as you like.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the shakkar pare till golden brown and remove in a plate.
  5. Heat a pan add sugar, ½ cup of water and cardamom powder and allow it to cook till one thread consistency.
  6. Add the fried shakkar pare to the sugar syrup and mix well and allow it to and then serve.

  1. Corn Flakes Chivda –

This is also called as Makai Chivda.

Ingredients –

  1. Dried Cornflakes – 2 cups
  2. Peanuts – ½ cup
  3. Cashews – ½ cup
  4. Roasted chana dal – ½ cup
  5. Raisins – ½ cup
  6. Curry Leaves – 7 to 8
  7. Red Chili Powder – ½ teaspoon
  8. Turmeric Powder -1/2 teaspoon
  9. Sugar – 1 teaspoon
  10. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  11. Oil – 1 cup

Process –

  1. Heat a oil in a pan and fry the corn flakes, peanuts, cashews, curry leaves one one.
  2. Take a bowl to add all these and add roasted chana dal, raisins, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt and sugarMix very well.
  3. Serve the corn flakes chivda as you like.

Nevris is the goan version of Maharashtrian Karanji and North Indian Gujiya.

Ingredients –

  1. Wheat Flour – 1cup
  2. Salt – ½ teaspoon
  3. Water – ½ cup
  4. Hot Ghee – ½ cup
  5. Grated Coconut – 1 cup
  6. Jaggery -1/2 cup
  7. Cardamom Powder – 2 teaspoons
  8. Cashews – 6 to 7 (chopped)
  9. Raisins – 10 to 14
  10. Oil – ½ cup

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add wheat flour and saltMix well.
  2. Add hot ghee in the wheat flour and mix very well.
  3. Add water and knead a dough and keep it 10 to 12 minutes in cotton cloth.
  4. Heat ghee in a pan add grated coconut, stir it for 2 minutesAdd raisins, jaggery, cardamom powder and mix very well for 2 minutes on low flame.
  5. Make a small ball from the dough and roll it about puri size add grated coconut and jaggery mixture in the middle of puri and grease the edges of puri.
  6. Fold the puri like karanji and make folds on it.
  7. Heat a oil in a pan and fry the nevris till golden brown.
  8. Serve the nevris as you or store it in airtight container.

This is also called as Namkeen Shankarpali.

Ingredients –

  1. Wheat Flour – 1 cup
  2. Maida – ½ cup
  3. Rava – ½ cup
  4. Ghee – 2 tablespoons
  5. Ajwain or carom seeds – 1 teaspoon
  6. Cumin seeds or jeera – 1 teaspoon
  7. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  8. Water – 1 cup
  9. Crushed Black Pepper – 2 to 3
  10. Oil – 1 cup

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add wheat flour, maida, rava, ajwain seeds, jeera seeds, salt, crushed black pepper and mix well.
  2. Add hot ghee and mix wellAdd water slowly and knead a dough and rest for 15 to 20 minutes.
  3. Make balls from the dough and roll it into roti size shapeMake a diamond or square shape with the knife.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the shankarpalis till golden brown and serve as you like.

This is also called salted or spicy boondi recipe.

Ingredients –

  1. Besan or plain flour – 1 cup
  2. Rice Flour – 1 tablespoon
  3. Baking soda – 1 pinch
  4. Turmeric Powder – 2 pinches
  5. Oil – 1 cup
  6. Water – 1 cup
  7. Ghee – 2 tablespoon
  8. Curry Leaves – 10 to 12
  9. Cashews – 10 to 15
  10. Peanuts – ½ cup
  11. Red Chili Powder – 1 teaspoon
  12. Salt – 1 teaspoon

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add besan, rice flour, baking soda, turmeric powder, salt and waterMake a thin batter.
  2. Heat oil in a pan place a ladle or jhara pour batter on it and fry the boondis till golden.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan fry the curry leaves, peanuts and cashews and add them to the boondi.
  4. Add red chili powder and salt and mix well.
  5. Serve the kara boondi as you like or store in the airtight container.

  2. Desiccated Coconut –1/4 cup

  5. Sooji or rava – ½ cup
  6. Cardamom Powder – ½ teaspoon
  7. Sugar – ½ cup
  8. Water – ½ cup

Process –

  1. In a mixing bowl add wheat flour and baking soda and mix well.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan add flour, desiccated coconut, rava, cardamom powder, sugar and mix well.
  3. Add water slowly and knead a dough and make small balls from it.
  4. Baked the cookie in an oven and serve as you like.

As it is mainly made up of potato known as aloo or batata.

Ingredients –

  1. Potatoes – 2 medium sized (Boiled & Mashed)
  2. Besan –1 cup
  3. Gram Masala –1/2 teaspoon
  4. Turmeric Powder –1/2 teaspoon
  5. Red Chili Powder –1/2 teaspoon
  6. Salt – ½ teaspoon
  7. Chaat Masala –1/2 teaspoon
  8. Mint Leaves Powder –1 teaspoon
  9. Amchur Powder – 1 teaspoon
  10. Oil – 2 cups

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add mashed potatoes, red chili powder, gram masala, salt, chaat masala, amchur powder, turmeric powder, mint leaves powderMix well.
  2. Add besan over the potato mixture and knead a dough.
  3. Heat oil in a panTake a disc having fine holes over it.
  4. Take sev maker to add the small ball of dough and press directly in the hot oil.
  5. Fry the sev till golden brown and serve or store in airtight container.

It is the little bit same as potato sev.

  2. Turmeric Powder – ½ teaspoon
  3. Red Chili Powder – ½ teaspoon

  5. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  6. Hot Oil – 2 tablespoons
  7. Water – ½ cup
  8. Oil – 2 cups
  9. Baking Soda – 1 pinch

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add besan, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, baking soda, ajwain seeds and mix well.
  2. Add hot oil and mix wellAdd water slowly and knead a dough.
  3. Take sev mould or sacha and put the dough ball in it.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and press sev mould directly in the water.
  5. Fry the sev till golden brown and serve or store in an airtight container.

There are two versions of bhakarwadi i.eone from Pune, Maharashtra and another from Gujarat.

Ingredients –

  1. Besan – 1 cup
  2. Maida – ½ cup
  3. Turmeric Powder –1/2 teaspoon
  4. Salt –1 teaspoon
  5. Oil – 2 teaspoons
  6. Water –3 tablespoons
  7. Sesame seeds or til –3 teaspoons
  8. Funnel seeds or saunf –1 teaspoon
  9. Desiccated coconut -1/2 cup
  10. Red Chili Powder – 1teaspoon
  11. Coriander Powder – 1 teaspoon
  12. Cumin Powder – 1 teaspoon
  13. Gram Masala Powder – 1 teaspoon
  14. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  15. Lemon Juice – 1 teaspoon
  16. Sugar – 2 teaspoons
  17. Oil – 2 cups

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add besan, maida, turmeric powder, salt and mix wellAdd hot oil and mix very wellAdd water slowly and knead a dough.
  2. Heat a pan roast the sesame seeds, desiccated coconut, fennel seeds and then add red chili powder, gram masala, cumin powder, coriander powder and salt and mix wellGrind it adding sugar and lemon juice.
  3. Make small ball from dough roll it like a roti shape and grease one side with water and place the ground mixture and gently roll itClose the edgesCut the bhakarwadi in pinwheelsGently press it with your palms.
  4. Heat oil in a pan or kadai and fry the bhakarwadi till golden brown.
  5. Enjoy the bhakarwadi as a tea time snacks.

  5. Chaat Masala – 1 teaspoon
  6. Salt – 1 teaspoon
  7. Baking Soda – 1 teaspoon
  8. Peanuts – 1 cup
  9. Oil – 2 teaspoons
  10. Water – 3 tablespoons
  11. Oil – 2 cups

Process –

  1. Take a bowl to add besan, rice flour, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, chaat masala, baking soda and mix well.
  2. Add oil and combine wellAdd peanuts and water slowly and mix well.
  3. Add rice flour and mix well and allow it for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat oil in a pan add these coated peanuts and fry them till golden brown.
  5. Serve the peanuts as you like.

  1. Oats –1 cup
  2. Peanuts -1/2 cup
  3. Oil –1 tablespoon
  4. Almonds – 5 to 6
  5. Cashews – 5 to 6
  6. Roasted Gram – ½ cup
  7. Raisins – 1 cup
  8. Oil –1 cup
  9. Sugar –1/2 teaspoon
  10. Green Chilies – 2 to 3
  11. Curry Leaves – 8 to 10
  12. Salt –1 teaspoon

Process –

  1. Heat oil in a pan or kadai fry the oats, cashews, peanuts, almonds, raisins, curry leaves and roasted gram.
  2. Take a bowl to add all these add red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, green chilies, sugar and chaat masalaMix well.
  3. Serve the oats chivda as you like and store it in an airtight container.
